What We Do

Operation Anchor is a nonprofit organization that was established in 2024 following Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. The founders wanted to assist with the disaster relief, and partnered with some other organizations to volunteer, as they had in the past. It became clear with Helene that there was a lot of work to be done rebuilding the community, and we wanted to create an organization that would be around until the end, until this part of the state was back to normal. Stationed in multiple counties, Operation Anchor is here to rebuild, repair and rehome.

Our hearts also lie in addiction recovery and prevention of human trafficking, and we have resources available for both of those as well, although most of our efforts are in Western NC at this time due to Helene.

The goal is normalcy in each community, always here until the end.

Hannah Stutts, 27, is the president and co-founder of Operation Anchor, Inc., a nonprofit organization founded in 2024 in response to Hurricane Helene to assist with disaster relief and long-term recovery efforts. The organization also provides support for human trafficking prevention and recovery in Western North Carolina and beyond.

Hannah has been passionate about volunteering since childhood, graduating high school with over 800 hours of community service. She continued her dedication to giving back through college, where she started her own initiatives. In addition to her work with Operation Anchor, Hannah owns an award-winning horse farm that caters to low-income families, providing them access to equine services. She also operates a separate nonprofit focused on offering horse therapy to trauma victims, further demonstrating her commitment to healing and support for vulnerable communities.

Hannah spends several days each week on the ground in Western North Carolina, working hands-on to ensure Operation Anchor fulfills its mission. Her leadership and dedication to service are at the heart of the work she does, driving meaningful impact in the communities she serves.

Steven Lambert is the Vice President of Operation Anchor, Inc., where he serves as the primary day-to-day operations manager. With extensive experience in disaster relief, Steven has volunteered in some of the most devastating events in recent history, including during Hurricane Katrina and in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. His experience with Hurricane Helene inspired him to join the cause, leading to the founding of Operation Anchor in 2024 to continue long-term recovery efforts where other organizations had to step back.

Steven is deeply passionate about disaster relief, addiction support, and human trafficking prevention, aligning perfectly with the mission of Operation Anchor. He made the life-changing decision to leave his previous job and move full-time to Western North Carolina, dedicating himself fully to recovery efforts and the communities they serve. His leadership, experience, and unwavering dedication are the driving force behind the organization’s ongoing operations, ensuring Operation Anchor continues to provide crucial assistance and support to those in need.
